This work investigates the transgression of natural spaces and the vulnerability of fragile habitats under the pressures of human development. Rooted in a lifelong fascination with birds and formative memories of observing them in the expansive garden of my childhood home, I explore how landscapes and life events intersect, carrying symbolic, emotional, and ecological tensions.
Through Augmented Reality, the boundary between medium and subject becomes porous, echoing the deterritorialization experienced by birds displaced from their environments. This conceptual shift parallels the unpredictability of human life journeys—sometimes blissful, sometimes marked by pain—yet always shaped by the enduring presence of those who nurtured and cared for us. Their essence remains embedded within my being, inscribed in my DNA, a silent guardian akin to the Cape Robin Chat peering through a window—a poignant reminder of continuity and belonging.
Employing a multimedia approach, this work mirrors the instability of life’s landscapes, revealing new meanings through fragmentation, recombination, and intermedial dialogue. It is an ongoing inquiry into intermediality, deterritorialization, and transgression, forming the foundation of my doctoral research.
