Artist's Portfolio and Creative Journey

I’m Antoinette, a passionate visual artist, designer, and lecturer with a rich background in art and design. Ever since I can remember I was drawn to the vibrant world of fine art and History.  I’ve pursued various creative avenues, earning degrees in multimedia, graphic design, and visual arts. On this site, you’ll find a curated selection of my portfolio, including works from my BA and Master’s degrees, as well as ongoing creative experiments with watercolors, acrylics, and new media.

I am currently pursuing an exciting PhD study at the University of South Africa, where I will explore the mythology of birds through analogue and digital media.

In February 2025, I visited the Prado Museum in Madrid to conduct an in-depth study of Hieronymus Bosch’s works—a cornerstone of my doctoral research on cross-medial discourse and mythical creatures in idyllic landscapes.

Whether you’re a curator seeking innovative visual art for exhibitions or someone passionate about art’s evolving forms, I invite you to explore my world and join me on this creative journey.

Antoinette Odendaal 2025, mixed media on stretched canvas, acrylic paint, declocalmania, gesso, acrylic dye and acryclic glaze transfer. This work explores the transgression of natural spaces and the fragile habitats threatened by human development. Drawing from lifelong affection for birds and early memories of watching them in the large garden of my childhood home, I trace how landscapes carry ecological tension.
